Romo Fabrics, Wallcoverings & Cushions
Classic contemporary designs with a distinctive signature style, is how we would best describe the Romo brand. Their timeless designs are easy to use and no matter what you are searching for, Romo always seem to have the perfect solution for your interior and soft furnishing projects. Specialists in drapery and upholstery fabrics, Romo are the ideal choice when selecting a curtain or sofa fabric, plus they have a stunning collection of coordinating wall coverings, trimmings and rugs to match.
Founded in 1902 by Robert Mould this family business is now in its fifth generation. Over the years Romo has established itself as one of the leading UK designer fabric and wall covering suppliers. As well as being a household name in the UK, Romo also distributes its fabric and wallpaper collections across the globe to both residential and contract clients.
The Romo brand has such a strong sense of style, we suspect owing to the fact that all of their designs have been created in house since the 1980s. Now headed by design director Emily Mould, their talented team produce new collections every year for each brand.
The Romo designers are talented artists who take their inspiration from a plethora of sources, including nature, historical design and architecture and art, which are then translated into the gorgeous prints and weaves that adorn our homes, as curtain fabrics and wall coverings.
We of course love all of the Romo designs, and some of our favourites include the Floris fabric and wallpaper collection, a beautiful mixture of decorative weaves, silks and cut velvets with designs inspired by Japanese gardens and pear tree leaves from Chatsworth House. The Cherry Blossom design is sublime and we love the dramatic Benito viscose cut velvet, a stunning multi coloured fabric available in greys, blues and pink colour ways, now that’s a wow upholstery fabric!
The Sulis collection is based on a wonderfully simple linen blend, ideal for customers searching for a casual elegant fabric, which is suitable for curtains and upholstery.
Lorcan is also a great fabric collection, all designed in a super easy to use, relaxed style with contemporary prints on a Linara linen base cloth. These fabrics are also designed to coordinate beautifully with the Floris wallpaper and fabric collection.
We have to of course also give the Romo Linara collection a mention. The most popular fabric by far, the Linara fabric collection is comprised of a plain cotton linen blend with an unrivalled spectrum of colours, including 360 shades. This soft brushed linen fabric is perfect for making curtains and roman blinds and is an excellent upholstery fabric for sofas, headboards and chairs.
At Amersham Designs we have a huge selection of the Romo fabric pattern books in our showroom. Customers are always welcome to pop in and see the collections in the flesh, plus you will receive great customer service too, that’s always nice.
The latest edition to the Romo portfolio is their fabulously cool, new Romo rug collection, designed in collaboration with the specialist weavers from Louis De Poortere designer carpets. These gorgeous hand tufted, deep pile rugs are available in eleven trendy designs and multiple colour ways, which perfectly complement the Romo fabric and wallpaper collections. Of course we would expect no less!
We love the multi coloured, flat weave, chenille rug in the Takana design, which is an effortlessly cool geometric weave over stripes. Perfect for a contemporary interior, this rug oozes ethnic chic. If ethnic’s not your thing there are plenty of other gorgeous designs to tempt you, including contemporary florals, bold geometrics and abstract textures.
Romo has been so successful over the years, it was always inevitable that they would branch out and introduce new brands. If you are looking for contemporary classic designs then Romo is definitely for you, alternatively they have five other wow brands.
There is the extremely successful brand Villa Nova, which is great for customers wanting the designer look, but on a more reasonable budget, designs concentrate on modern prints and relaxed weaves.
Kirkby Design is the brand for the young at heart and uber trendy. Their collections deliver bold prints and patterns and colour that pack a punch. Interesting collaborations of late include collections designed with Eley Kishimoto and the doodle artist Jon Burgerman, crazy stuff!
For the glitterati the Zinc Textile brand is a must, their glamorous fabric and wall covering collections embrace all things grey, neutral, metallic and lux with experimental textures and weaves.
The Black Edition brand is the newest addition to the Romo group, exclusively designed for the high end market, think decadent velvets, opulent colour palettes and lustrous fabrics. They also have a fabulous collection designed by contemporary impressionist artist Jessica Zoob and a striking range of Black Edition cushions. Love!
Finally, for a complete polar opposite you have the Mark Alexander brand, the ideal choice for customers looking for an understated, relaxed, lived in look. Popular with interior designers, the Mark Alexander brand specializes in naturalistic colour palettes with organic textures such as cashmere, wool and linens.
