Quick Guide to Curtains and Blinds
All our handmade curtains and blinds are made in house by our team. With such a huge range of styles, it can be tricky to know what you need. We can supply those special details – upholstered pelmets, covered lathes and matching soft furnishings.
Here’s the Amersham Designs quick guide to the most popular styles of blinds and curtains.
Roman Blinds
This style of blind is a single piece of fabric, which folds upwards into pleats when you open the blind. A sleek and stylish option, we can create these in lined, interlined, and blackout lined fabrics. And the choice of fabric is almost infinite! This style of blind can work in almost any room. We can install these with a chain system, or for the ultimate convenience with motorised headrails.

Roller Blinds
Incredibly easy to operate, this is a very durable, no-fuss style of blind. As with Roman blinds, we have a huge range of fabrics for you to choose from. We can also use voile, screen, solid or blackout fabrics. This practical style of blind is popular for use in kitchens and bathrooms.
Louvolite Roller Blinds - simple, versatile and practical
Curtains
You have the option of lined, interlined and blackout lined. Our curtains are all hand-sewn and finished. We can create these with the most popular headings - pinch pleat, double pinch pleat, cartridge, and wave – and yes, we have a huge range of fabrics to choose from. We house a vast collection of designer fabrics and trimmings books in our showroom, and we welcome you to come and look.

Wave Curtains
The wave curtain with the Silent Gliss heading tape is a very popular choice. A super modern style, this curtain hangs and always keeps a perfect wave shape. Looks perfect in contemporary and modern interiors, particularly in a floor to ceiling scenario.

Upholstered Pelmets
These are wooden boxed pelmets upholstered in the fabrics of your choice and can be finished with contrast borders or trimmings. Most popular is straight based for a contemporary feel, but we also make traditional shaped based pelmets too for the more classic interior.

Covered Laths
These are ideal for maximising list and using in bay windows, or windows that have limited space above. Cover them in the same fabric as the curtains or go for a contrast. These work best with pinch or double pinch pleat curtains. The idea of a lath is that it hides the track and is a very discreet upholstered strip that the curtains sit in front of (not behind like a pelmet).

Tracks & Poles
We supply made to measure hand-drawn, corded, and motorised tracks, and made to measure poles in metal or wood. These range from off the shelf budget-friendly options, including the Cameron Fuller metal pole kits, to hand-painted poles with elaborate finials.
We supply Metropole and Glider poles; these are very popular and work well with the popular wave system.
And we also supply brands for motorised systems - Louvolite, Somfy, Luxaflex and Silent Gliss.
