Interior Design

Our clients asked us to redesign several key rooms in their elegant family home.

The brief was to create a classic yet contemporary space. It also had to be comfortable, relaxing, and practical, for the young children in the family. Not a problem! While we love creating beautiful spaces, your home must work for you. Durable furniture, hardwearing fabrics and sensible yet stunning colour choices are all in our toolkit.

Formal Sitting Room

We redesigned the furniture layout and scheme for this room, transforming it from a bland shell into a classic, luxury space for our clients to enjoy.

Painting the walls deep blue, creating a more intimate space, and using deeper colours on the walls of larger rooms is great for achieving this effect. We opted for a blue-green tone for a restful vibe, this is perfect for unwinding and feeling utterly at ease. Sticking with the timeless blue colour palette, we chose rich, deep blue velvet sofas in a sumptuous Designer's Guild fabric, perfect for indulgent luxury.

Although more classic in style, our clients were open to us pushing them a little out of their comfort zone. This is always something we appreciate! We suggested a bolder pattern on the occasional chairs – a stunning zigzag cut velvet by Black Edition from the Romo brand – which once they saw it,  they immediately fell in love with. It’s wonderful when a client trusts us to add something extra special to a room.

A Julian Chichester coffee table and Andrew Martin side tables were natural choices. Understated and stylish, but with character. The glass square coffee table adds a more modern feel to this classic sitting room. Perfectly placed Heathfield lamps illuminate the room and create warmth,  complimenting the cooler blue colour scheme.

The stained, oak plank wood flooring was a great base for the scheme and a practical choice, yet rooms can feel bare when furniture is placed directly onto wood floors. We love using rugs on hard floors, they are fabulous for "zoning" and adding warmth, depth, and colour. We chose a Designers  Guild rug with a silky velvet pile, for a luxurious look and feel. Adding a rug for the sofas and coffee table to centre around draws you in and helps create a cosier space.

We completed the scheme by commissioning a bespoke sideboard and glamourous cocktail cabinet in a grey toned wood veneer with antique brass handles.

With the scheme complete, this sitting room is now the perfect space for our clients to enjoy and entertain friends.

Family Room

The brief here was to create a room for the whole family to enjoy and feel relaxed in. When working with families it is important to consider who is using each space.

We used the client’s existing cushions and incredible artwork. We love taking inspiration from a  piece of art or furniture that you love. Here we worked with our client's stunning piece of abstract art. Picking out colours and adding vibrant pops around the room.

A funky chair in a geometric Romo print echoes the energy of the artwork and complements the super-comfortable teal, linen, blue sofas.

We opted for Andrew Martin floor lamps, a coffee table and console. We went for bold, chunky styles that did not feel too delicate or precious in this family room. Here is somewhere where you could curl up in a chair, watch a movie, or spend time together playing games.

Master Bedroom & Master Ensuite

Bedrooms are such personal spaces, and they must feel right to you. Our client wanted a simple,  neutral, and calm scheme with an accent colour for interest. She opted for a sugary pink for a bit of fun. Adding an accent colour is such an effective way to add life to a neutral scheme. Curtains, rugs,  cushions, and other accessories are great ways to play with colour.

We redesigned and installed their Master Ensuite. The brief for this room was to create a scheme that was elegant, contemporary and with real longevity. It also needed to be sympathetic to the style of the house.

For the tiles we opted for Mandarin Stone, Carrera effect porcelain tiles, The clients loved the look of marble, but porcelain was the obvious choice as it is so much more practical and easier to look after.

We installed a beautifully organic, free-standing bath, bringing soft curves into an otherwise hard space.

The shower enclosure was deliberately simple to create a feeling of airiness, as was the wall-hung Wc, which again creates the illusion of space, plus it is much easier to clean.

Finally, the scheme was completed with a classic bespoke, painted vanity unit with vintage-style wall lights and a simple black framed, round mirror. We love the accent of pink in this room on the Roman blind too, which leads nicely into the Master Bedroom scheme.

Children’s Room

Finally, something just for the children, they could not be left out! Fresh new curtains; for the girl’s room we used a gorgeous Harlequin fabric, and a fun geometric fabric by Romo was made into curtains for the boy’s bedroom.

This was a fantastic project, and the clients were such fun to work with. The result, simply a beautiful family home.
