Drifting is the epitome of ceramic artist Kyra Cane’s signature style. An explosive swirl of pattern that has compulsive movement, capturing a visual sound wave of dynamism and velocity. Wild sweeping, brush strokes embody the intensity and heat involved in creating the final ceramic. The fluidity and depth of Kyra’s original ceramic pieces are translated perfectly on to a soft, fluid velvet that echoes the movement of the design. The velvet has a smooth pile that softens the printed texture, adding a new dimension of tactility to the print.

Embarking on a creative collaboration with talented potter Kyra Cane, Villa Nova have created an engaging and uninhibited range of textiles. Kyra’s ceramics and drawings capture the dynamism and wildness of landscapes, through mark making and the alchemy of the making process.

The collection encapsulates the elemental flow of energy of the potter’s wheel and fluid movement of brush marks that layer to form areas of colour and tone. Prints that feature vast dramatic explosions of abstract pattern sit with designs that take influence from pastel drawings of tree lined and grassy horizons. These designs have an energetic pace, but also retain the chalky softness of the original artwork. The dramatic feel of the collection is tamed by soft fluid sheers and intriguing textured weaves with a subtle wash of colour.
