Our Sgraffito print replicates boldly applied scrapes in the clay that give way to soften areas of mark making. The calm background is interrupted by pops of colour and spontaneously placed handmade scrapes and scribbles. This artistic design is printed on a smooth, fluid satin cotton.

Embarking on a creative collaboration with talented potter Kyra Cane, Villa Nova have created an engaging and uninhibited range of textiles. Kyra’s ceramics and drawings capture the dynamism and wildness of landscapes, through mark making and the alchemy of the making process.

The collection encapsulates the elemental flow of energy of the potter’s wheel and fluid movement of brush marks that layer to form areas of colour and tone. Prints that feature vast dramatic explosions of abstract pattern sit with designs that take influence from pastel drawings of tree lined and grassy horizons. These designs have an energetic pace, but also retain the chalky softness of the original artwork. The dramatic feel of the collection is tamed by soft fluid sheers and intriguing textured weaves with a subtle wash of colour.
